Abdul Raheem L. Orr Sr
Founder, Chairman of Board

Raheem grew up in a single-parent home along with his brothers and sisters in Elizabeth, NJ. Growing up in Elizabeth, Raheem and many of his friends grew up with the absence of their father. Unfortunately, Raheem made some bad decisions socially and academically that affected his course in life almost ending his dream to play in the NFL. GIven an opportunity to better himself and continue his football career. Raheem attended Rutgers the State University of New Jersey in the fall of “1999”. Dealing with the repercussions of his lack of academic commitment, Raheem was ineligible for the first 2 seasons of his collegiate career. In 2001 Raheem was declared eligible to compete in his first season at the college level. After going on to have 3 productive seasons Raheem was Drafted to play professional football in the NFL for the Houston Texans and eventually the New York Giants. Finishing off his career with the arena football team the Philadelphia Soul in 2008. While playing for the soul, Raheem’s journey to serve the community and give back started to become apart of his daily schedule. He participated at soup kitchens, pantries and helped nonprofit organizations such as habitat for Philadelphia, Chosen 300, Philadelphia Eagles Youth Football camp by lending his services. Raheem was honored with the “2007 Philadelphia Humanitarian” award for his efforts in the community. No matter where Raheem Resided Texas, Pennsylvania or Michigan his hometown of Elizabeth, NJ was always on his mind. Thinking of a way to be effective back home, Raheem created More Than A Sport. Throughout his career, Raheem struggled academically and socially. Two areas in his life that he had to improve in so he can reach his goal athletically. More Than A Sport was officially given an origin of forming in 2018 and has been full steam ahead on developing academic programs and athletic camps and leagues to initially serve the children of Elizabeth, NJ and eventually throughout the country. A very important component that is offered to our youth is our mentoring program. We will work with individuals who suffer from social issues, are at risk, or dealing with health-compromising issues. Understanding how much impact those issues affect an individual is very important to notice. But, being able to coach a child through a potential crisis or a series of bad moments is where you have some of your greatest impact in a child's life. We will always seek programs that will be life-changing in a positive way for the youth we cater to.
